Alex joined Orms in 2017 and has contributed to major retrofit projects across London, including the former Royal Mail building on Old Street and 80 New Bond Street—both of which retained existing structures to reduce carbon impact. At 80 New Bond Street, he led the delivery of the building's façades. He was also a key team member on the St Giles mixed-use scheme at Tottenham Court Road.
He brings strong BIM expertise and is also part of Orms' sustainability team, helping integrate environmental goals into project delivery. His technical capabilities and collaborative approach enable him to effectively balance design aspirations with practical implementation requirements across complex urban projects.
What does ultrapractical mean to you? Ultrapractical architecture means creating buildings that respond intelligently to both current needs and future challenges. Through my work on retrofit projects that prioritise carbon reduction, I've seen how thoughtful adaptation of existing structures can deliver both environmental and design benefits. At Orms, I value our approach that balances technical rigour with creative thinking, working collaboratively to find solutions that are practical in implementation yet ambitious in aspiration. By integrating BIM expertise with sustainability principles, we can develop architecture that is both innovative and responsibly delivered.
