Yasir joined Orms in 2014 after studying at Kingston University and qualified as an architect in 2016. He has worked on significant projects including The Standard Hotel and 1 Newman Street, where he led the design and delivery of the façade over a five-year period. His technical expertise is complemented by his academic engagement as a Design Think Tank leader at the London School of Architecture, where he contributes to architectural discourse while bringing fresh perspectives back to practice. Yasir combines rigorous technical knowledge with design sensitivity, creating architecture that responds to both functional requirements and cultural context.
What does ultrapractical mean to you? Ultrapractical architecture means creating sustainable solutions that balance technical rigour with design quality. As project architect for 80 New Bond Street—a heavy refurbishment and extension of a prominent 60's concrete frame building at the intersection of Oxford Street and New Bond Street—I demonstrated this approach by retaining the majority of the existing structure to substantially reduce carbon impact whilst providing flexible workplace and retail spaces with an exciting new façade. My expertise in BIM delivery, developed through projects with defined client requirements including Uniclass and COBie information, enables me to coordinate complex retrofit challenges efficiently from design through to construction.
