Steph joined Orms in 2021 after graduating from The London School of Architecture, where her thesis explored converting underutilised existing commercial space in Central London in response to the accelerated shift in attitudes towards the way we work. This research interest in adaptive reuse aligns with Orms' focus on transformative architecture and continues to inform her approach to design. Previously, she worked across a diverse range of masterplan, residential and stadia projects in London practices, developing a broad understanding of different building typologies and urban contexts.

What does ultrapractical mean to you? I'm fascinated finding inventive solutions within existing constraints, transforming challenges into opportunities. At Orms, I've applied this approach to several commercial and hospitality projects, including the conversion of the former Central Saint Martin's site into a new 420-bed hotel and mixed-use scheme involving a Grade II* Listed Building. I've also contributed to Waterhouse Square, retrofitting a heritage listed building into a mixed-use office development. These projects demonstrate how thoughtful intervention can breathe new life into existing structures, creating spaces that respond to contemporary needs while respecting historical significance—embodying sustainability through reuse rather than replacement.
