Rob joined Orms in 2016 after studying at The University of Liverpool and London Metropolitan, where he qualified as an architect in January 2016. His prior experience spans educational, residential, commercial and listed buildings, providing a versatile foundation for his work at Orms. Since joining, he has been involved in the delivery of Camden Town Hall Annexe—the refurbishment of the existing Town Hall building into a high-quality hotel—and Oxford House, a mixed-use refurbishment scheme on Oxford Street, demonstrating his expertise in adaptive reuse of significant urban buildings.

What does ultrapractical mean to you? Ultrapractical architecture means creating buildings that honour their heritage while meeting contemporary needs through sustainable solutions. As Project Architect for St Giles Zone 2, I coordinate the design team working on the restoration and new build elements of 10 properties on Denmark Street, including four Grade II listed buildings. This complex project demands balancing preservation of historical significance with integration of new interventions that enhance functionality and performance. My interest in holistic and sustainable architecture guides this approach, ensuring our designs respect both environmental imperatives and cultural context while delivering spaces that work effectively for their occupants.
