Ivan joined Orms in 2009 and became an Associate Director in 2017, establishing himself as a key leader on complex commercial and mixed-use projects. He previously delivered offices over 100,000sqft for Great Portland Estates at 95 Wigmore Street & 1 Newman Street. His pivotal role in the team delivering the St Giles Circus project—an innovative mixed-use scheme in central London for Consolidated Group—demonstrates his ability to translate conceptual design ideas into technically sophisticated architectural solutions. He is currently working on retrofit projects and pioneering a CLT and UHPC project for Hines UK.

What does ultrapractical mean to you? Ultrapractical architecture means creating flexible, adaptable structures that respond intelligently to evolving needs. At St Giles Circus, a simple Table Top structure concept with a deployable façade became the organising principle for diverse functions that adapt over time. By collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams and industry specialists, we evolved this concept into a highly complex yet coherent solution. This approach informed my work on the redevelopment of Selkirk House in High Holborn for Labtec—a twenty-storey mixed-use scheme where the integration of public realm, below-ground events space and roof-top gardens creates an invigorating environment for workers, locals and visitors alike.
