Ellen Hollobon

Architectural Designer

M.Arch (Prof), BAS

Ellen joined Orms in 2018, bringing international experience from her previous roles at Stephenson and Turner in Wellington and BVN in Sydney. With a Masters of Architecture from Victoria University, Wellington, she developed expertise in educational projects across New Zealand and Australia's public and private sectors. Her international perspective, combined with technical proficiency in coordination and package delivery, enables her to contribute effectively to Orms' collaborative design approach on complex architectural challenges.

At Orms, Ellen has contributed to diverse typologies including mixed-use, commercial and residential projects. Her significant work includes the 75 London Wall refurbishment, where she delivered Stage 4 core packages and coordinated with consultants on this high-quality office accommodation with four new stories. Currently, Ellen is applying her expertise to the Stage 2 design of a 10-storey new build office development in Croydon, demonstrating her versatility across project scales and stages.

What does ultrapractical mean to you? I'm fascinated by spatial conditions that facilitate different modes for accelerating innovation in workplace environments. As a member of Orms' in-house Sustainability team, I explore the interface between architecture and the natural environment, seeking solutions that perform on multiple levels. For me, being ultrapractical means creating spaces that respond intelligently to complex challenges while maintaining a commitment to both human experience and environmental responsibility.
