Andrew joined Orms in 2014, bringing experience from both private and public sectors in Glasgow where he worked on multiple award-winning projects. He leads the team delivering the complex St Giles mixed-use scheme in London, where his contribution has been vital in gaining planning and listed building consent, producing construction information and delivering the project on site. With an international perspective gained from studying in Glasgow, Chile and the Czech Republic, Andrew brings cultural awareness and diverse design influences to his leadership role at Orms.
What does ultrapractical mean to you? Ultrapractical architecture means creating responsive solutions that fulfil both practical needs and aspirational visions. At Orms, I lead 75 London Wall, a retrofit Global Headquarters project that retains 88.5% of existing built fabric while transforming the user experience through layered loggia, balcony spaces and a wellness hub. As head of the studio's involvement with the London School of Architecture and leader of the 'Purpose and Pleasure' Design Think Tank, I explore how research can inform inventive design approaches. Responsible for recruitment and design reviews, I foster creative talent and ensure our practice remains passionate, innovative and joyful—developing ultrapractical solutions that respond thoughtfully to evolving urban contexts.
