Senior Sustainable Design Specialist

MArch, PGDip, ARB, Retrofit Coordinator

Sarah joined the Sustainability team with over a decade of experience as an architect and sustainability lead on residential, community and mixed-use projects in the UK. She provides sustainability support and guidance across all Orms projects, as well as taking on the role of Sustainability Consultant. This dual role allows her to be further embedded into teams and maximise both opportunities and outcomes. As a Retrofit Coordinator and former PassivHaus designer, she brings specialised knowledge to the coordination and delivery of sustainability on projects, including embodied carbon assessments and circular economy strategies.

What does ultrapractical mean to you? Ultrapractical design is inherently sustainable, ensuring the longevity of our buildings and minimising their environmental impact over time by considering robustness, ease of maintenance, repairability, comfort, material efficiency and minimising waste. By integrating sustainability with thoughtful design, we create buildings that are holistically sustainable - environmentally responsible, socially valuable and economically viable. This approach allows us to balance aspirational sustainability goals with achievable outcomes that benefit both communities and clients.
