Robert joined Orms in 2024 as Practice Director, bringing over 20 years' experience in operational management across architectural and creative industries. He oversees all areas of the practice including finance, HR, facilities, project operations, legal affairs, IT, quality assurance and strategic planning. Previously at Stanton Williams as Practice Manager/Director, Robert developed expertise in aligning business operations with design excellence, ensuring both creative and commercial objectives are met while maintaining financial sustainability.
His approach combines rigorous financial oversight with collaborative team development. Robert analyses performance data to inform strategic decision-making, presents financial insights to leadership teams, and builds strong relationships with external advisors. With experience managing support teams and working alongside project leaders, Robert creates operational frameworks that enable architectural innovation while ensuring practice resilience.
What does ultrapractical mean to you? Ultrapractical practice management means creating efficient systems that support design excellence rather than constraining it. Drawing on my experience across architectural practices, I've learned that operational success comes from balancing creative ambition with commercial sustainability. At Orms, I'm focused on developing responsive frameworks that adapt to changing industry demands while maintaining our core values. Through careful resource management and strategic planning, we can provide the foundation for innovative, people-centred architecture that responds generously to complex briefs while ensuring the practice continues to thrive.
