Mikele Perez

Architectural Assistant

MA (Hons)

Mikele joined Orms in 2025 as part of her placement with the LSA, where students work part time alongside their Part 2 architectural studies. Prior, Mikele worked at WT Architecture in South Queensferry and LDN Architects in Edinburgh as a Part 1 Architectural Assistant. She spent 2 years working across various architectural projects located in Scotland, gaining a valuable insight into different work stages and developing her architectural design skills. Mikele graduated with First Class Honours from The University of Edinburgh (ESALA), winning the MA Architecture Prize (Year out) for outstanding performance. During her studies and time in practice, Mikele developed strong architectural interests in the importance of place, community focused design and retrofitting principles. Outside of the studio, Mikele enjoys making art that responds to Scottish coastal landscapes and playing Netball.

What does ultrapractical mean to you?

To me, being ultrapractical is about understanding how things are made, how they function and the relationship between design thinking, context, collaboration and construction. My experience spans from hands-on construction—mixing and applying earth plasters on self-build projects in Colombia—to making a 1:1 prototype of a chair during my undergraduate studies.
