BArch (Hons), MArch, DipArch, ARB

Matthew joined Orms in 2024, bringing experience in delivering prominent commercial office and residential developments across London. His approach balances contextual sensitivity with environmental responsibility, developed during his previous roles at Bennetts Associates and Farrells.

His diverse background includes working on ambitiously sustainable adaptive reuse and new build schemes to building a Passivhaus dwelling (featured on Grand Designs). A University of Nottingham graduate, where he co-founded the Student Sustainability Action Group, Matthew specialises in detailed design, combining technical rigour with sustainable design principles, including carbon analysis and standardised Revit workflows.

What does ultrapractical mean to you? Ultrapractical architecture emerges when thoughtful design meets real-world constraints. Having worked on projects ranging from large commercial office buildings to a self-built Passivhaus dwelling, I've developed an approach that balances ambitious design goals with practical implementation. At Orms, I'm excited to apply this perspective to create buildings that respond intelligently to both context and climate challenges. By drawing on collective experience while remaining open to innovation, we can develop solutions that are not only beautiful and meaningful but genuinely sustainable and deliverable.
