Giorgia joined Orms in 2023 after completing her Bachelor of Science at The Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff University and Masters of Architecture at The London School of Architecture. Prior to joining Orms, she spent two years at Morris + Company, developing the practice’s sustainability research. In addition, she has experience working on large scale international stadia projects. At Orms, Giorgia works on Mercury, a deep retrofit of a central London office with a focus on reusing the existing Portland Stone, while also researching and understanding the sustainability of projects across the practice.
What does ultrapractical mean to you? Ultrapractical architecture embodies a thoughtful balance between heritage preservation and forward-thinking sustainability. Working on Mercury has deepened my appreciation for reusing existing materials like Portland Stone—showing how conservation and innovation can coexist. My research into sustainability across Orms' projects reveals that truly ultrapractical solutions emerge when we thoroughly understand both a building's past and its future potential. By combining rigorous technical knowledge with creative thinking, we create architecture that respects history while meeting contemporary environmental challenges.
