George joined Orms in 2025 following 2 years at dRMM. He is a New Zealand Registered Architect working at past practices such as ASC Architects, and Architectus. George brings a practical, detail-focused approach to architecture. His experience in all stages of design and construction, along with a background in project management allows him to guide the client and stakeholders through the design process to resolve the best outcomes for the project. He has recently been leading design teams in large residential and mixed‑use schemes, along with education, aviation, and master planning projects. At Orms he contributes to coordinated BIM workflows, produces construction information to translate design intent into buildable, sustainable solutions.
What does ultrapractical mean to you?
Ultrapractical to me means effective processes and designing efficiently to identify the areas that require further focus and attention by utilising the team to get the best for the design of a project. The goal is for excellence in design, and part of this requires constant concertation of the end user experience. It’s about anticipating issues in that will arise at future stages and resolving them before they become a problem. I like to prioritise buildability by working with consultants and contractors to reduce complexity where possible to minimise cost and promote sustainable solutions.
