Chris joined Orms in 2024, bringing experience across all RIBA stages in Commercial, Life Science, Education and Arts & Civic sectors. Previously as an architect at Nicholas Hare Architects, he led the design of multiple projects. At Orms, Chris has been focused on technical Stage 4 design of a large commercial project, balancing aesthetic aspirations with cost, programme and sustainability requirements.
His expertise spans the full project lifecycle, from initial briefs through procurement to technical delivery. With experience of Principal Designer duties and a comprehensive knowledge of building regulations, he ensures projects meet both design excellence and technical compliance standards.
What does ultrapractical mean to you? Ultrapractical design is about working to the best of our abilities to maintain the aesthetic aspirations of a project, within existing constraints and practical requirements of a brief. This requires careful design that does not unnecessarily use carbon intensive procedures when the same, or better, design can be achieved with a more sensitive and considered approach. At Orms, I'm committed to finding solutions that combine design intelligence with practical implementation, creating architecture that is both beautiful and buildable
